Today we would like to share with you some of the images and emotions which we experienced as Asian wedding photographer London creating the Sikh wedding photography in a beautiful Tuscany. We are quite lucky because we were chosen by the fantastic couple - Sukhipal and Gurjeev to document their absolutely stunning Sikh wedding, which took place in two very different locations - London and Tuscany.

We were even happier when we found that the main wedding ceremony is going to be held in the beautiful resort in the City of Barga, Italy. We have photographed a wedding in 2019 in exactly the same place, so it was a great opportunity for us to go back to one of the loveliest places in Europe.
We must admit that we were absolutely blown away by the emotions, colours and customs of the Sikh wedding.
Contrary to Indian weddings, the Sikhs have their main wedding ceremony held at high noon. Usually, before the main ceremony, there are pre-wedding ceremonies and rituals, which are great opportunities to capture some amazing images for the Sikh wedding photographer as well.
Before every main ceremony, the engagement ceremony is held. During this ceremony the Holy Fire and the Holy Book Guru Granth Sahib are present. The couple needs to circle the Holy Fire and the priest is reading the verses of the Holy Book. It is a perfect moment for the Asian wedding photographer to capture some really interesting photos.
Another very interesting ritual is the Vatna ceremony. It is usually conducted one or two days before the wedding ceremony. The family prepares a special paste made of turmeric and olive oil and then their task is to cover the bride and groom with this paste. This ceremony is full of very funny moments and it provides a lot of fun for the families and lots of trouble for the future bride and groom because the paste is very difficult to wash off.
The next ceremony is Choora and this just must be the favourite ceremony for the brides. Women love jewellery and during Choora the family is putting red and white bracelets.
This ritual is mainly performed by the uncle of the bride. First, the bracelet is soaked in water or the water with milk and then the uncle is praying for happiness and a good marriage and he puts on the bracelets on the bride's wrists. It is an incredible moment to capture for the Sikh wedding photographer. Then the candles are lit and all the guests start to dance while holding the candles above their heads. This is the so-called Fire Ceremony, which is very spectacular, especially after dark.
The Asian wedding photographer London must remember that the Sikh wedding ceremony itself is different from the Indian one. The ceremony is always performed in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib (The Holy Book), which contains the Holy Scripture. No wedding can happen without the presence of the Holy Book. Anand Karaj's (the ritual of happiness) aim is to realise the importance and the holiness of the marriage to the future Bride and Groom.
During the Sikh wedding ceremony, the guests are expected to sit on the floor. One can sit with the legs crossed but can never straighten the legs in the direction where the Guru Granth Sahib is. Usually, the women and men sit on opposite sides of the venue. During the wedding ceremony, the Bride and Groom are circling the Holy Book clockwise.
After the ceremony, when the Bride and Groom are officially considered as the man and wife, the guests are approaching them to congratulate them. It is a very emotional moment and the best time for the Asian wedding photographer in London to capture group shots with important family members and friends. This is a very important part of Sikh wedding photography.
